When surveys have been set up from the same template, or by copying a previous survey, and the designer has kept question ids and answer/scale codes that he/she wants to bring together consistent, so that for example a question with id "q1" and codes "1" and "2" is used for the same question and answers across all surveys, you can use an Auto Mapped Combined Survey to automatically bring together data from all surveys so that you can compare results in reporting and analysis.
As many separate surveys can be added to the automapped combined survey as you wish, and the surveys can have as many questions as required - there are no limits. However as manual mapping is not available in this part of the SmartHub functionality, corresponding questions that are to be combined across the surveys must be of the same type, must have the same question ID, and must have the same answer codes.
The linking process is based on survey keywords, and only surveys that are added to the hub (Adding a Survey to the Hub) and have the keyword will be linked. When a new survey is added to the hub, if it has the appropriate keyword it will be picked up by the system automatically and its data will be mapped into the combined survey. If the appropriate keyword is added to a survey that is already in the hub, then that survey will also be added to the mapping on the next sync.
If a survey that has the appropriate keyword has a question that does not match with the questions in the schema for the combined survey, for example a question type is incompatible, then the survey data import for that particular survey will fail and an error message will be presented. You are recommended to build and use a survey template to create new surveys for Auto Mapping, or copy an existing survey, as this will ensure that the new version is identical. Note that in the event an individual survey registers a mis-match and presents an error, the data from the remaining surveys that do match the Auto Mapping will still be loaded.
The data from the surveys is loaded continuously into the Vault, where it is saved. The data is then transferred from the vault to the Mart when required for processing.
The Auto Mapping process supports loops, but it is currently not possible to export data from it.
